Do a format/clean install the second you receive the imac 27?

I would personally rather do it that way (after the first start up to see if everything is fine first obviously) Cause im sure you are able to choose what applications you want to install etc right? I never had a mac before so thought i'd ask.

Also is the process easy? and im also able to create a partition just for the install say 12gb for it, and partition the rest in 2 other drives?

If it is your first mac, just use it.

I have had 5 macs in my Apple using time span and never reinstalled when the machine turned up. Infact, the only time I've installed OSX after the machine arrived was when I replaced the HD in my macbook after a trip to Brazil fried it.

When my new 27" shows up, guess what I'm going to do? Use it. If you don't want applications that are installed, just drag them to the trash can.

No. There's no reason to. Doing a full re-installation would give you the exact same apps on a Mac (although you do have the option to not install iLife and option to install developer tools).

Only do a clean install when you decided to destroy all your apps and data (for a good reason!).

I know EXACTLY where you're coming from, as this is your first Mac. I used to always do a clean install when buying a new PC, just so the config can be as clean as possible - this when I still lived in the Windows world. You don't need to worry about this at all with a Mac. Just use it as it is. It is clean and without any freeware.

There is no bloatware pre-installed on Macs unlike the PC counterparts.
There is no point whatsoever of reinstalling a brand new OS on a brand new mac.
There is also no point in making an OS-only partition.
