Can the 4.1 Audio problem damage speakers?

I have the '09 Mac Pro 4.1 and while I don't think it has any heat problems with the audio as discussed in other threads, I have had my external speakers (BlueSky EXO's) blow out, twice now.

The EXO's are 2.1 and plug directly into the analog jack at the back of the MacPro, other than that, there is no other connection. Is it possible the audio problem could blow out the "board" of my speakers (located in the subwoofer) :confused: I wouldn't have thought so, but, you never know...

Now that you mention it, I have my Logitech speakers fail at the moment, I sometimes hear crackling noises coming from them. Thats happening at random times, when using Windows as well. No clue if its related but yeah...
