Best way to drive 2 24" Apple LED w/ATi 4870?

I'm trying to hook up two monitors (stretch) to my early 2008 MP with the new ATI 4870 card that i just put in however, since there's only 1 minidisplay port slot i have to look into other options.

I can use the:

Atlona’s DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter

but i don't know how the picture quality will be,

but can I also get a 2nd ATi 4870 and drive the 2nd monitor from that, AND have my screen stretch? or will i get 2 separate screens?
 
You could buy a GT120 for 100 odd bucks from Apple.

I would rather have a graphics card then a converter, but thats just me.
