apple Knowledge Navigator

I thought this was kinda cool.Knowledge Navigator quicktime (http://www.esm.psu.edu/Faculty/Gray/graphics/movies/AppleKnowledgeNavigatorPromo.mov) Apple made this video in 1987. Do you think it will ever happen?

Heh heh. That's pretty interesting.

Some parts of that are actually pretty well along. The desktop looks something like OS X, and the "phone call" reminds me a lot of iChat AV. (Isn't it cool to see a concept that was merely "sci-fi" in 1987 turn into a reality?)

Our present-day voice recognition software, however, is still pretty primitive compared to what we see in the video, and we're nowhere near the kind of artificial intelligence depicted by the Navigator guy in the upper left-hand corner.

Still, I have no doubt something like this will actually come to pass, though it might not be in our lifetimes.
