Everything seen on this site, from company logo to intro and videos were created from scratch, solely by my wife and me (or vice versa) and without any prior knowledge to any of the involved software. Although needing some fixes here and there, we would like to proudly present our work, that best describes what we do!

Anyone know if Apple will allow for transfering a site from one computer to another? I am planning on upgrading to one of the new iMacs by May and don't want to have to start my site from scratch. Up to now that has been the only alternative with iWeb, according to Apple Support.

I'm really liking this site! It's very clean and crisp.

If you were asking for feedback (I know you didn't but here goes...), the only things I could say are try a smaller logo and, possibly reduce the height of the main front page image - only to get your navigation above the average fold line.

But definitely the best site in the topic so far!

www.designhaus.eu (http://www.designhaus.eu/)

This site is designed almost entirely in iWeb with a few menus either hand coded or done in Dreamweaver dropped in as iframes.

Let me know what you think...

For me the most useful features of iWeb not replicated elsewhere:-
Text to png on the fly, this makes swift edits possible
Pixel measurement of objects allows a highly structured grid sample... (http://www.designhaus.eu/sizing/size.html)
Integration with iPhoto allows easy content creation
The picture frame tools are a great way to bring flat pictures to life

What would really help...
A multiple site feature
The ability to create sub folders to help organize complex sites
Jump menus
Automatic Breadcrumbs
A table tool
Drop shadows that work with FireFox
SEO Optimization tools
The ability to target links to 'top" or 'new" - this would allow pages within pages as scrollable menus

And...
A coverflow tool in html not flash

This is my company website I created using iWeb '09. I was using google apps to create and edit my site, but once I started using a mac I scrapped the google site and created this one from scratch. I'm still trying to improve and complete the site, but I've got the basics completed.

If any of you have some constructive criticism I would love to get some feedback. My wife just says "It looks good." But it would be cool to have some fresh eyes checking it out.

ok complete iweb noob question, how do you guys get rid of the whole folder thing?

anytime i go to my site it has http://website.name/folder_name/index.html

so my site http://bmblb.us redirects to http://bmblb.us/bmblb_tech/index.html

how do you stop that?

I love iWeb but I really love it when people use it with their own designs. My sites are www.quirkdesign.co.uk (http://www.quirkdesign.co.uk) and our blog Oddity News (http://bit.ly/b6PRpa). I've tried to steer clear of the standard iWeb templates and also tried to stay away from publishing the site to a folder and instead use the simple 'Publish' button in iWeb. Both of these are created and maintained in iWeb 09 and I'd love some feedback if anyone has any.

Hi QuirkDesign, I like your site. I have one suggestion with your contact form which is from jotform.com. You should make the form background transparent, which you can in the form properties from the website. That way it feels more part of the site design and not some random thing placed on top of it.

Thanks for the tip. I tried to put on a transparent background when I first put the form on the site but for some reason I couldn't get it work. It kept showing up as a white background so in the end I chose the grey background so at least it fit a little better. I'll give it another go and see if it works.

UPDATE: thanks for the advice. I've just managed to change the form so now it fits in better with the site and I even managed to get my thankyou page to work.

www.edinburghpt.co.uk

It needs ALOT of work in my opinion. First off, remove the navigation panel at the top. (Inspector/Page Layout)

Also, remove those gradients. Gradients only look good if they are very gradual, not like how you have them.

Make the fonts a bit smaller, and use a different logo.

Wow. I didn't know you could do so much with iWeb. These are some great looking sites. One thing I can't figure out though is how do you get your own personal domain in the URL without iWeb making a subfolder using your "Site Name"?

I want:

mysite.com/Home.html

and not...

mysite.com/mysite/Home.html

I'm uploading it through my mobileme account and have the domain registered at Godaddy.

@OP: I like your site design, and considering it was made in iWeb that's awesome. Only thing I don't like is the logo design. Also, consider getting a .com for it.

Also, don't use images for text. Images are always bad practice for this, although I'm not sure if you have control with this if you're using iWeb.

Also, keep the image sizes consistent on the front page.

My Photography Site (http://www.stefanfeldmannphotography.com/Main.html)

It's been in the works for the past few months and with school around the corner I decided to get it finally finished. Compared to my previous site, I enlarged the images, refined the layout and navigation and made the whole design more modern.

All done in iWeb, with help from PS, Autoviewer (http://simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/), iWebSEO (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/iwebseotool.html), iTweak (http://guimkie.com/itweak/).

Great site.

My only complaint is that the blog link directs to your posterious blog. That isnít a huge problem, but it leaves no way to get back to the rest of the site directly from the blog.

True. I might make it open in a new window/tab. Not sure. I originally had the blog in a iframe inside a iWeb page however Firefox wouldn't play nice. Thanks though!

hi guys,

this is the website i created.

feedback greatly appreciated.

personally, i feel the look of the website is still very unrefined, amateurish in fact. any ideas on how to give it a makeover?
