I was just reading this article:

I'd love this only if you could wirelessly access standalone harddrives. 540 Mbits/s would make for a decent speed for wireless harddrives for poor laptop users like me that have to hook up to their external drive every time they want to get to their proper storage.

Will it ever happen that way?

Now all we need is something that can transfer data at over 67MBps...

54mbit/s is too slow, but 540mbit/s exceeds current legal limits.. So...

54MB is not that slow when you use it for web surfing. How often do you transfer GBs of data between systems anyway?

Wireless is a new technology, but its future must be clear. For laptops at least we want to keep the locally stored data to a minimum, thus allowing the machines to be smaller and slimmer.

Next we'll want to go super-broadband and download movies to rent and then stream dvd quality to the TV. Give it time.
