Hello, is there a way to install os x on external hard drives with out having to reboot the computer, as i don't want to reboot...

Just a word of friendly advice: I hope that your friend has a "legal" copy of Tiger. If not, you won't get a lot of help here. I don't care either way - to me, it's such an early beta that it won't hurt for people to play with it. But a lot of others will jump on you if it isn't a valid copy.
Unfortunately, I can't help with your problem. I would, but I just don't know the answer.

Thanks for the advice, anyways i don't really care anymore either as i figured it out on my own..

not quite, you can use Pacifist to install without rebooting, provided its on a different drive.

yup as i did it
all you have to do is open the terminal, navigate to the tiger dvd, find OSInstall.mpkg
open it
install on external harddrive without rebooting... go me. :D
