View Full Version : Which generation does my Blacbook belongs to?

Hi all,

My sister just handed me her early 2008 2.4GHZ Blackbook.

Was searching the internet to see which generation it belongs to but to no avail.

Can anyone help me with my query?

Eh... you just answered your own question. It is a MacBook (early 2008) model.

...top left of your screen, click your apple...

Then click "about this mac" and then "more info" and it will tell you the model number of your blackbook...

My whitebook is a 5,2 so its 2 generations out from the most current model...

Take a look here (http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php) and enter the serial number found in 'about this mac'

Mactracker (http://www.mactracker.ca/) is a great free program for identifying Apple equipment. :)

Apple refer to the models by the time of which year they were released, so from how Apple reference them it is an early '08 model. By released revisions it would be 5th generation, but no one refers to them in that way.

If you want more details you could open the "About this Mac" dialog and then "More Info..." to exactly know witch version do you have (2,1 3,1 and so on)

You can find "About this Mac" dialog, in you top left apple menu

thanks for the patience and time for replying to my question.

Reason for me asking is because i am thinking of getting an Invisible Shield (IS) Full Body Protector but on their website http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/laptop/apple, it lists their products according to generation of Macbooks...Hence i was stumped.

Anyway, can anyone tell me which is the right IS i should be getting for the 2.4GHZ Blackbook?

The guys at OWC (http://www.macsales.com/) can set you up with 6Gb or RAM for about $200...

He never asked about RAM nor can a BlackBook handle 6GB, 4GB is the maximum.

I was just sharing.

And yes, a few poly MacBooks can handle 6Gb. It's a 2GB and a 4Gb set. They're not matched, but the 6Gb is fully addressed.
