I have been trying to install a older DVD-RAM drive in the second bay of my Mac Pro. I've been able to get the drive installed and working, however the drive try will not clear the exterior door on the Mac Pro case. I feel like that if I removed the doors that the drives would work, but I cannot find any instruction on the removal of the doors. I could locate one screw on the access panel side, but something is holding the door assembly on the other side. Does anyone have information on removing this part?

You must remove the front bezel of your DVD drive. Here's a video on how to do it. It's really easy. Link:http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macpro_2009_opt_bezel_m/

I've removed the front bezel of the DVD drive, but the tray still hangs on the external doors on the Mac Pro case. It looks like if I removed these doors the tray would extend.

I wouldn't remove the DVD doors off your Mac Pro. It's gonna look ugly;) You might as well spend 30$ and buy a DVD drive whose bezel will eject properly. Strange though that this the door is blocking it. Try putting your superdrive in the lower one to see if it also does this.

I wasn't worried about the aesthetics.. I just need the drive to work. For some reason the only way I could get the drives to work was to install the existing drive in the lower slot and my old drive in the upper. I need to use this older drive as it reads my legacy DVD-RAM disks that hold older archive projects.
