I was sorting out an Wireless networking issue on an old iBook G3. While looking into the system info I noticed that the Machine Name was reported as an iBook, but the Machine Model was reported as a PowerBook4,3

I also have a 12" PowerBook G4 (an early 2005 1.5GHz version) and it's name is reported as a PowerBook G4 12" and it's model as a PowerBook6,8.

The 12" G4 was my first Mac, and I bought it a few months before the switch to Intel so I'm not very knowledgable about the PowerPC Macs, after a brief Google search it appears that a lot of iBooks have PowerBook model identifiers. Where the iBooks and PowerBooks that closely related, and if so, what differentiated the iBooks from their more expensive brothers? (apart from the case design)
