Screen blacks-out

Here's the problem: When I turn my ibook on the screen freezes or blacks out almost immediately. I can’t tell if its just the screen or also the computer it self. I did make the mistake of taking my laptop through airport security with out turning it off. Any ideas of how to fix this? :(

It's hard to say with out more information about your system and how exactly the problem occurs.
