does anyone know why MacPro refurbs are few and far between on the apple uk store?

do they generally not refurb them much? or do they never break

all they have currently is some 8 core beasts for £3000 - £4000

i was hoping to pick up a cheaper base unit one. i suppose i could look at trying amazon etc..

Mostly due to the number sold, but coupled with the reliability it makes for so few. They do come on from time too time, but never stay on more than a day.

I took delivery of a 2.9Ghz quad 09 yesterday. It was £1950 I think. They do come up but as ever with the refurb store they don't hang around for long :)

Yeah I'm pretty pleased all round. Absolute perfect condition, no scratches or marks at all. I noticed it on there Thursday morning but didn't actually order for an hour or so. It should have arrived Friday but UPS balls'd that up so it came Saturday instead.

You just gotta keep checking and checking. Now come to think of it... I've just had an idea for an iPhone app :) Push notifications when items arrive to the refurb store would be pretty neat.

Does anyone know when they update the store? Midnight every night or something?

Nice app. Thanks for the info. Wish that 3.2 octo would come down. 3200 is to much but its a nice machine.

Considering what you're getting, it's a good deal. Same price as the current '09 base Octad (2.26GHz), but it's a faster system in both single and multi-threaded performance. :D

Upgrades can be easier as well, and in the case of RAID, you don't have to get special adapters to make 3rd party RAID cards work with the HDD bays (extra $165USD). It also avoids other issues with the '09's as well. ;)
