good, free audio recording program

i'd like to be able to record audio using the internal microphone in my ibook and i can't seem to find an ap on the ibook to do that
haven't had much look finding one either, i don't really know where to look for software for macs either since i just got the ibook
i just need something very basic, doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles

Did you try Sound Studio? Its in your applications folder.

Search versiontracker.com for Audacity. The price is right and it's supposed to be a very good app.

It is a little odd that Apple puts microphones on their computers but no recording app.

iBooks come bundled with SoundStudio. It's quite good in my opinion. You will find it somewhere is you applications folder. Just Spotlight it... I mean search for it in Finder, myess.....
