Hard drive died while trying to eject DVD

I put my macbook to sleep as usual. When I woke it up and eject the DVD to watch a movie, the DVD seemed to be stuck. Then the macbook stop working, so I forced a shut down, to eject the DVD. After trying a couple of times, the DVD was ejected but my hard drive died.

I know this could be just a failure of my hard drive, but the same happened to me a year and a half ago. Any ideas??? :confused:
