Hi, I'm in the market for an external firewire hard drive enclosure, and I want to know what you all think is the most stylish. I have a stylish aluminum Googie Sandwich, and want something similar, check out this thread to get an idea of what I'm looking for:

edit: preferably no plastic, unless it looks really really good.
Thanks!

Same thing I got. I love it. It's so tiny and quiet! Perfect for my portable digital world. :D

the thing is AL and the built is solid, small and it's got a led in the side.

No offense, but that's hideous.

If you want style, I'd get the Porsche/LaCie one. I think the one designed by Porsche has an 8MB buffer. Most LaCie's do not. They're good drives though.
And no, its not Porsche the car company, although its the same family...

The iomega's aren't too bad, and they come with a paperclip holder on top, but they are quite bulky (at least the one i have). the one touch la cie (not the fa porsche one) is cool too.

Hmm. It's firewire and usb2. that's great for switching between Macs and PCs. Which brought to mind an interesting question: how bad would that freak if it was connected to an iBook and a PC at the same time???

in wat sense
It's much smaller then the one we are talking and also smaller than the Porsche in Volume, the only thing is that it's 1cm longer but still slim and thin.
Last but not least, All aluminium and it's DIY. you get to choose the HD's quality and it cost way less.

I saw this one yesterday in Macworld, and just about wet myself.

If I buy a new external drive, it may be that one just for the cool factor of it matching my G5.
