what did you expect? it happened once with the Time Cover Story - don't expect that to happen again.
You'll see it when everyone else sees it.

How is it not good. For once apple has learned how to NOT have premature specification :p

Its such a hot issue that I am sure there will be a few more leaks and mock ups in the next few days

The August 17th one isn't bad, but it looks like they are forgetting the optical drive. tsk tsk :p

For some reason I'm expecting some fairly boring yet nice styling. Sort of like what you'd get if you turned a really big iPod on its side and made the whole front an LCD. But basically a rounded rectangle with white back plastics and a clear front.

This mock up isn't bad... except for the color!

Could that be because that's what Apple has been doing for the last couple of years? (For example the plain white iBook and the PowerMac G5)

I'm liking this one...although perhaps a little too close to the 'pro' range. I'm one of the few who has fallen in love with iMac and is hoping that we don't see drastic changes...I mean, it's just so dang beautiful and simple! :D

Some of these designs are nice, but I don't think there's any way that a G5 chip can fit into such small cases... I'll be surprised if the iMac G5 isn't the largest iMac to date by far...
Here's one more to add to the fun: http://www.mackompass.de/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=52&Itemid=2

naaa, I think that the ones mentioned are good but are no where near capturing what the iMac should or could be.

Actually I quite like that!
I still prefer the old "dome" design, but that's the most attractive mockup I've seen so far.

Not bad. I think more squarish at the back with a mounting bracket...

One of these would seriously rule the school. But the non-all-in-one-ness of it loses some of the iMac feel. Well, I can still dream.

I would think that the new iMacs would have a boxy look to them. Think about it- The g4 powerbooks are boxy, the g5s are boxy, the new displays are boxy. The iBooks are somewhat boxy. Why not the iMac?
The G3 powerbooks were rounded
The g3/g4 powermacs were rounded
The g3/g4 iMac were round
The early ibooks (toilet seat/clamshell) were round
Thats my guess.
Would the iMac g5 be white plastic, aluminum, or some new color(s)?

Weird design but I love it, if the iMac is anything like this I'll buy it.

The first iMac was revoloutionary in the idea behind it, the second iMac was a bit of a revoloutionary design but nothing special in the idea behind it. I think its time apple did something more revoloutionary again and less evoloutionary, even if it means bringing in a whole new line of computers to replace the iMac. I think they should be more focused on a digital hub idea, and with the ipod, airtunes, airport etc a lot of the groundwork has already been laid.

The obvious logical step for Apple at some stage is to chase the TV tuner angle. If they want true multimedia then one day they will need to put a card in the box as standard to allow reception of digital tv. This would be highly attractive to a number of subgroups like boarding students, singles in small appartments, those wanting a second TV, those wanting true digital in a tivo like format etc. It may not happen in the next year or so but eventually it will
