PowerMac purchase in 2007

I'm planning on buying a PowerMac in 2007. Here's what I think some of the specs will be like...

CPU Speed: 4-5 GHz
# of CPUs: 2-4 (1-2 dual-core)
FSB Speed: 2-2.5 GHz
Memory Speed: 1.6 GHz (core 200 MHz, DDR-3)
Memory (Standard): 2-4 GB
Memory (Maximum): 128-256 GB
Hard Disk (Standard): 250-500 GB
Hard Disk (Maximum): 2x-4x 2-4 TB
VRAM: 512 MB - 1 GB (GDDR-3 or 4)

EDIT: Do you think these specs are reasonable?

I picked 2007 because I have AppleCare for my iMac, which I bought late January 2004 and received early February 2004. February 7, 2007 is the first day I'll have with no AppleCare.

I don't think so. We haven't even really doubled hard drive capacity in the last few years (120GB drives have been out for a while now, and we're only up to 250GB standard). There's got to be a roadblock somewhere along the line before 1TB drives. You simply can't fit that much data with current marketed technologies.

I can totally see 1-2 TB drives but not more than that. Considering that they already have 1 TB now, but not internal I believe.

Graphics chips will have way more than 512 MB RAM stock.

For instance, UE3 needs 512 VRAM.... today. As does Doom3. So... maybe a gig or two?

That may be true about the graphics cards, but isn't Apple planning on only putting a GeForce FX 5200 in the new iMac?

i hope will will see better specs than that... i think we will see 6ghz proccessors by 2010. but not sure what we will need them for....

Just think about the software requirements in 2010. Then you'll want a brand new G8 and toss the G7. :p

These predictions don't seem to make sense... After all, 2007 is only 3 years away. When we think back to 2001, things now have really not changed that radically.

Plus, with the recent release of the G5, Apple seems to have set new standands that may stay for the next few years.

i think apple could get near that...maybe in 2006

but the pc world will get there in 2005, or at very least on some of those aspects like the memory, the standard hard disk, and the vram

but what would make me very happy would be an ibook at 1.5 ghz/G4 chip by january 2005, and 4 ghz G5 by january 2007 if moore's law holds
