View Full Version : Has anyone tried replacing Mac Pro's casing with a new design? Or making their own?

My case is dented. I need to trash this thing.
Thinking of buying a new, but not Mac Pro's casing. I move a lot and it's way too bothersome.

Rather make a new casing on my own, or buy a new lighter design.

Has anyone done this?

Many thanks.

The Mac Pro logic board isn't likely to fit in any commercially available case, one would have to be crafted specifically with exact dimensions.

Making the Pros internals fit in a standard ATX tower would be a huge hassle.
It's not only the mainboard that does not fit in any other case without modifications, the power supply does not follow any ATX standards as well.
It is certainly possible, but you should bring some time with you.

Build a Hackintosh and save the original mac pro motherboard in a envelope with your OS X CD. It will serve as your license :)
