Hello, I just bought a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter for my Macbook.

When I hook it up to my RCA 40" 1080p tv, it will not show the 1920x1080 resolution and will say "Unsupported". If I change it to 1680x1050 it displays, but it's not at the 1080p that I would like.

I have read my TV's manual, and it specifically says the maximum resolution for VGA input is 1920x1080, but it won't work.

Any ideas why it doesn't work?

Regards,

Too bad that is of no use to the thread starter. He stated Mini-DVI which means he has an older model MacBook. You linked to a MiniDisplayport adapter which won't work with his computer.

My macbook is just over a year old and therefore does not have a displaypory. And I should not need to buy anything else as my tv says VGA is capable of 1920x1080 yet I can only use 1680x1050 which is what I'm using now.
