As Apple's media event quickly approaches, the flurry of rumors continue to pour in. First off, both Steve Jobs and Tim Cook of Apple have been building the hype for their product announcement on Wednesday. In Apple's PR release, Steve Jobs describes the release of a "major new product that that we're really excited about."
During the Q&A session of today's financial results conference call, Tim Cook teased that he "wouldn't want to take away your joy and surprise on Wednesday" when questioned about their upcoming products.
One analyst now claims (http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-01-25/apple-may-release-iphone-to-all-u-s-carriers-oppenheimer-says.html) that Apple may allow all U.S. Carriers to sell the iPhone:T-Mobile USA Inc. will get the phone this summer, followed by Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. in the fall, and Clearwire Corp. in 2011, Horan wrote in a note yesterday. AT&T Inc. has been the exclusive carrier since the iPhone debuted in June 2007.This report leads to one possible interpretation of the Apple invitation with colors lining up with the brands of major carriers:
http://images.macrumors.com/article/2010/01/25/232555-create.jpg
We think it's likely to be a simple coincidence, but makes for an eye catching possibility.
Finally, the NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/26/technology/26apple.html?src=twt&twt=nytimesbusiness) now reports that the new Tablet will run current iPhone and iPod Touch Apps. It will run all the applications of the iPhone and iPod Touch, have a persistent wireless connection over 3G cellphone networks and Wi-Fi, and will be built with a 10-inch color display, allowing newspapers, magazines and book publishers to deliver their products with an eye to the design that had grabbed readers in print. If true, this would consistent with a report (apple-tablet-devices-detected-in-mobile-analytics) from analytics company Flurry which claimed they detected up to 50 presumed-to-be tablet devices running their iPhone apps.

That is my hope as well! I hope AT&T is scared enough to say, heck, we'll allow tethering (which is what the tablet will need) for the data plan already in place. If not, there is little reason for people to stick with them if other carriers have it as well and offer it up. But this may be the next bit war for the carriers, who can give the best bang for the iPhone community. I sure hope so, typically the consumer wins when this happens. :D

Meh...
Carriers which are competitor have a natural tendency of choosing different colors for their logos, to differentiate themselves from one another. That leads to the usage of primary colors (Cyan, Magenta, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green etc.) in corporate logos, and I really feel it's simply a coincidence that Apple used primary colors in their invitation.
This event will be about the tablet, not cellphone carriers.
I'm not ruling out some announcement about the end of exclusivity of AT&T in the US, but I'm pretty sure that the colors were not planned to give us any hint about this secondary announcement.

Ok, that's just freaky how all the colors match up EXACTLY. I'd expect some of them to be off, but it looks like they were all copied with the dropper tool. I wondered why all the colors didn't quite go well together. They all seem bleak and dull. I figured there'd have to be some clue in them because they didn't look very "Apple."
Anyone have a clue as to what the purple might represent?
That also explains the dominant orange and blue coloring. (AT&T) I bet new carriers are announced, but not released until later depending on how well their colors are represented on the invitation.
Then again this could all be a pipe dream and I could be crazy.

Why didn't I think of this??! The color theory makes perfect sense! Wow!
Could this just be a coincidence?? I mean, look at the colors. They could have easily used colors that compliment each other much better. But instead they chose the SAME pink T-Mobile uses, the SAME orange for AT&T, the SAMME etc...(I'll have another look to compare the colors again, but so far they seem to have the same values!)
Me, being a graphics designer, I quickly notice composition, colors and layout, and when I first saw this banner, it just looked odd. It wasn't as minimalistic as other apple banners or any apple ads. It looks sort of ugly and non apple-like. Doesn't make sense why apple would do this for any other reason than creating a "unifying" theme of all mobile carriers. Seemed as though they sacrificed some aesthetics to create the idea.
The other colors (blue, gray and purple), they could have just thrown in to make it less obvious.
What do you guys think?? I mean, does this banner look "appley" to you? Or is there a reason for the weird color combination?

I am getting disappointed. I'm sure it'll sell very well but I was hoping for something that could replace my Macbook Unibody Alu. I would love to have a note writing / OCR / word processing application to jot down notes in a meeting. Typing is faster but the screen just seems to separate people. 13" would be great but it looks like the rumors are converging on a 10" media device. Ah well, perhaps someone will write a beaut of an app. Unless they offer tethering, I won't be using its 3G abilities. I'm already paying for a cell voice / data plan, internet, cable, and home phone. I'm not adding another monthly expense!

The colours could represent the carriers that'll have the Tablet, with the iPhone to follow in the Summer. 3's logo in the UK is purple, so is Metro PCS in the States, probably a bit of a long shot though - there has been no mention of 3 getting the iPhone in the UK.

Guys, there'll be two models: one is a wifi model and the other is 3g model, just like the iPhone/iPod Touch.
As for free data plan....never going to happen. The tablet will use more data than the iPhone itself, AT&T can't handle iPhone data and you think they'll let you have free access for tablet as well? At most, the data plan for the tablet is going to be an extra 30-60$ a month easy.

They're primary colors (RGB & CMY). Corporate logos using primary colors? What a crazy idea!
:D
No! Wrong, sir (with all due respect). RGB and CMYK are not colors, silly :p They are not even color palletes. They are modes in which colors are displayed. RGB are lights, and CMYK = ink (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). The only primary color in a printing press is yellow.
The ATT orange is something like c = 0, y = 100, M = 35, K = 0. This combination is not "primary" It was made from 4 different values or "channels" and they happen to match up almost perfectly! Same with the others!! Awesome! lol

Regarding iPhone inventory during the quarter, Apple could have sold "a lot more" but chose to manage inventory tightly instead.
It appears the 4G iPhone will be released sooner not later. Why else would they self restrain iPhones. This is what they do with Macs right before a rev.

"What is the difference between 3GPP and 3GPP2?
3GPP, defined by a group of telecommunications standards bodies called the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), was created for use on Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) networks, the most popular type of 3G network across the globe. 3GPP2 was defined by a different group of telecommunications bodies called 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) for use on the second most predominate type of 3G network, Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 2000. The 3GPP and 3GPP2 formats are very similar, as both are based on the QuickTime file format and contain MPEG-4 and H.263 video, AAC and AMR audio, and 3G Text. 3GPP2 adds the option to use QCELP audio and Movie Fragments, a technology that allows multimedia content to be delivered incrementally over standard TCP wireless networks, providing a more immediate viewing experience for the end user."

I agree, cellular in a tablet could seem strange, but think about being on a train and reading the newspaper off your tablet. Wouldn't that be amazing?

the iphone won't be an exclusive phone.......
instead it will become an everyday phone.
I wont' be surprised if at&t starts giving free iphone 3G's for 2 year contracts....now..

I agree, cellular in a tablet could seem strange, but think about being on a train and reading the newspaper off your tablet. Wouldn't that be amazing?
And also, the iPhone was out 3 months before the iPod touch. This new tablet device maybe require 3G right off the bat, and then move to a Wi-Fi only version later on.
Why would I read a newspaper when one of countless websites will give me the news?
Same with magazines. Why even bother with magazines any more when websites offer so much more?
Thanks to being an iPhone/AT&T customer for the last couple of years, I've gotten more than used to making sure I have all of the content I want on my device before I go anywhere.
WiFi or no purchase. 3G makes no sense in this kind of product. Neither does making it a glorified eReader with iPhone OS.

It seems to me that the future of all this technology, at least short term is going to be some sort of mi-fi solution where you create your own gateway for your wireless device, and every device you own doesn't need a cellular connection to move data outside of hotspots.
I know this contradicts the idea of carrying less items around, but it seems to make more sense than having 5 devices all with unique cellular data plans.

I'm guessing the AT&T smoochyfest on the earnings call had something to do with AT&T agreeing to offer $10 data for tablets if you have an iphone, or something.
If that's true, I'm in! Even $15/month would be OK, but I don't think I'd be willing to pay an additional $30/month on top of my iphone's plan.
To me the data cost is a much bigger deal than the one-time purchase price of the device itself.

This makes sense. I mean, Apple has been doing this in other countries lately. AT&T's contract was REALLY long and now it's everyone else's turn in the U.S.
Despite what many people say, I've been a pretty happy AT&T customer for the most part. My biggest annoyances over the past few years:
1.) Price of texting. I don't text a lot, but I text more than 200. 1500 is way too much for me, yet I only get to choose between $5 and $15 plans? I wish I could at least get a $10 800-ish option. Right now I'm just limiting myself to 200 when AT&T could be making an extra $5 but they won't take my money.
2.) Price of data plan going up from $20 to $30. $20 is plenty for my moderate use of 500-1000mb a month. Though it's usually on the lower end around 500mb looking back through my bills.
3.) No tethering. Before it got locked down I did the carrier strings hack to get tethering. Before that I used Netshare. I don't use it very often, but it's nice to have, especially if I'm in a lecture hall with spotty wifi. I'd like a 1gb plan for around $10/mo. Like I said above, if combined with a $20 plan to make it the $30 it is now, then I'd be a bit happier. Should be included.
4.) No MMS until recently. Though since I was missing it for so long I don't use it as much, but I use it much more than the 0 times a week I was before.
5.) Wish EDGE was a little faster in the country. It usually hovers between 200-300kbps, while I've heard Verizon is 400-500kbps on their "3g" in the country.
I usually average 2.5-3mbps on 3g in the city. Since I'm usually in the city, I think I'll stick with AT&T for now, unless (maybe) Verizon lowers their prices below AT&T. I've heard Verizon's 3g is something like 700kbps to 1.5mbps in the city, so a little on the slow side. I also find my wife calling me frequently needing directions or wanting to catch a movie and being able to put her on speakerphone and look up things online is a nice perk of using AT&T. Verizon doesn't offer that. Though I'm all for people leaving AT&T where they don't get the service they expect. AT&T needs to feel a little sting in their wallet for where they've failed. Hopefully this will spark a price wars in the U.S. It seems like it's already starting with the new lower unlimited talk plans on AT&T and VZW.
Does anyone know if Sprint offers 3g and talk at the same time? Or is their technology the same as Verizon? I know they both use CDMA but I thought there were some small variations in their implementation.

Really, they don't look very "Apple"?

Red, green, pink, orange, light blue. Oh yeah, the light gray and purple nanos match too - so much for carriers, eh?
Who is coming up with these stupid hidden meanings to the artwork on the invite? Do you visit fortune-tellers and read your horoscopes too? Each one is more ridiculous than the last (remember that one guy saying that if you mixed up all the outside colors you would get the orange in the middle, symbolizing the industry missing the mark on a tablet whereas apple gets the bullseye?). Give it up already.
It's an ad, nothing more. The executives went to the graphics department and said "give us something that conveys creation or being creative". The artists went to work, submitted a handful of ideas, and the executives said, "The paint splatter one looks best, let's use that". End of story.

I like the color theory. Makes me wonder if Apple could convince all the cell carriers into a combined FREE (to consumers) data service for the Tablet (like Amazon's "whispernet" for Kindle)??
Carriers that now want a part of the iPhone action once the AT&T monopoly dissolves, would need to agree to support the Tablet too.
There’s no way Apple will again expose themselves and their customers to the frustration and sales limitations that went with restricting a device to one carrier. Besides, I dont see the Tablet having a removable “SIM card” or something that binds it to one particular carrier. Apple likes simplicity, and they can use the iPhone’s leverage to bend carriers to a happy arrangement regarding the new tablet.
If not, then at the very least, people with an iPhone could share the data contract with their Tablet, either through tethering, or more likely through a separate connection to the same subscription.
Apple has the clout to push something like this through.

Perhaps you'd like to use the INTERNET to browse those websites you speak of while on the train, in a parking lot, in your house, in the park, at your office (where wifi may be monitored and censored), on a plane, here or there, anywhere and any other of the 99% of the world that isn't covered by free wifi or isn't a starbucks.

Given that it is one of the few 32-bit applications on Snow Leopard, and that the name "iTunes" would become more of a misnomer as additional non-music features are added, it seems that launching a device such as the tablet would be a good time to update/replace/rebrand iTunes as well.

I'm more interested in how the poster/invite was created. It's not a stretch of imagination to believe it was created within a "brushes" type iPad app. I can see that a drawing/painting app could be a major selling point of a touch device. Is it possible that those beautiful splots of colour were rendered using more than touching the screen? My imagination leads me to think that just maybe a proximity sensor could allow you to "throw" paint at the screen? The wider implications are a control system for viewing video etc which does not obscure the screen with your fingers. This is consistent with the promised innovative control system. So, more analysis of that poster image, please, just to kill time, you understand :)

The Tour is the 9630, btw. Which is what I currently have. Good phone.
Sorry for the ambiguity, i meant the 8830 AND the Tour can work on GSM and CDMA (though the tour much more seamlessly from the sounds of it)
If the iPhone doesn't come to Verizon, the Tour is my next one.

Can't remember the last time i laughed like that!! I'm always wondering if they read these and laugh at the crazy things we all come up with.

I live in Michigan and I think that this announcement will be correct and all major us carriers will get the iphone. I remember being jealous about 4months ago because my GF got the iphone(she lives in canada) and I was thinking how unfair it was that a US company gave all of the major Canadian companies(rogers, telus, bell) the iphone.

Hey dopipod! That would be really neat that a screen senses your "throws", your motions, from a proximity distanced out enough to create splatters based on speed, distance, direction, etc. This seems possible with a Wii type device in the hand, but I doubt any screen would sense this type of motion from that distance without a separate remote device. Cool idea you imagined.
As for the splatters, you might already know this so excuse my post if you do, but it's really easy to create these effects with Adobe (or similar) software. But again, you might have already known that :o

Would you like to bet on that? Also, what about January 2007? That was when the original iPhone was announced. http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/the-apple-iphone/
Steve Jobs and Tim Cook read the news. They know what everyone is saying. They would not shoot their company in the foot by announcing an application after adding fuel to the fire today. If they did, that go down in business school as part of CEO failures.

I don't understand you. Why the heck wouldn't you want the internet on your tablet/laptop? Perhaps you'd like to use the INTERNET to browse those websites you speak of while on the train, in a parking lot, in your house, in the park, at your office (where wifi may be monitored and censored), on a plane, here or there, anywhere and any other of the 99% of the world that isn't covered by free wifi or isn't a starbucks.
I get 2.2MB/sec here on ATT 3G. That's DSL speed. I'd rather pay a few dollars to have that (and have it work everywhere) than have $50 month cable with a wireless router to buy and setup. Clear is that concept but wimax which is what, 4g?
Well, as I said before, I've been an AT&T customer since the beginning of the iPhone. Their coverage is the worst of any carrier I have ever used. So I definitely would NOT want to use anything on their service that I don't have to. I've only held out with the iPhone for so long because I'm hoping to see it on Verizon.
But, I have cable and WiFi at home. For $35 a month I'm getting 30Mbps down (and that price is guaranteed for the next year and a half, still cheaper than any mobile service afterwards). Thats faster than any mobile connection. And with AT&T's crappy coverage, it's faster for me to go home and look something up than it is to try and do it on my iPhone somewhere else.
But, the most important thing is that I don't want to have to pay a monthly fee to use this device. Why should I? I want the device without the monthly fee. I know I'm not the only one, considering that every poll so far has shown that the overwhelming majority of people polled will not buy the product if it has some sort of required monthly data plan.

AT&T's orange colour is still the largest and is also directly beneath the Apple logo... It's blue is also present elsewhere. Could this mean that AT&T are the still most important carrier, perhaps still have exclusivity to certain features/functions?

Im looking forward to this presentation, it should be interesting.
Although I wouldnt buy a tablet device as they are known now, they are awkward, and useless out and about to be honest..... but anyhow, its Steve Jobs' job to sell it to me and make me feel like I need one...
But as much as im looking forward to that, Im looking forward to seeing people moaning on here more..... I think a lot of the people need to come down to earth a bit with their expectations, because the way some people are acting, if Apples new device isnt like something out of Avatar, they are going to be dissapointed....
And even if it was a thin, clear glass panel with an amazing user interface, 2 cameras and free 3G for everyone, people will still say, "oh my god, finger print magnet!!! Apple are a joke!!! Bet the battery wont last!!!"

End of story.

oh noes!!!! you mean i wouldn't be able to see those crappy flash ads or worthless auto-play videos when I visit sites?!
not having flash on the iPhone hasn't been a hindrance and it won't be a hindrance if flash isn't on the iPad(tablet). Flash (and silverlight) is a proprietary application that causes more problems than it solves. Plus with HTML 5 and Javascript web developers can do more things natively than having to rely on 3rd party applications.
also if you've built your site in such a way that your content can't be gotten any other way than through a flash player then your site has already failed.

If they did want to go down the route of including 3G in the tablet, all of the content would have to weigh in at under 10Mb or else you couldn't download it over the cellular network, no?
Imagine how frustrating it's be if you were on a long journey and fancied downloading a magazine only to be told you can't because it's over the 10Mb limit. Highly unlikely I know, but you'd have to imagine it's been thought about by Apple. Unless they lift the restriction which I think would be even more unlikely.
I think this device will be wifi only with an option to tether if you wish, with you subscribing to magazines/papers/content (like podcasts) that will download every morning/week/month via wifi and be sitting on the device waiting for you when you get up.
I can't wait to find out what gets released and it will be an even longer wait here in the uk to find out because of the time difference.

I have listened to and read literally hours of opinions from some of the most respected names in Tech, and I have come to only one conclusion. No one knows anything. Everything that has been reported has been pure conjecture. The lid had be kept so tight, that no one can even say for certain that a tablet exists. I say let's just wait and see what happens. On a related note check out Penny-Arcades take on the issue. http://bit.ly/8DdPpW

What are the chances of a device having two SIM slots since the carriers are too stubborn to allow data roaming?
I figure under 10%, even though it would be trivial in cost to add the feature.
Rocketman
Zero is under 10%, so yeah.

Must admit, I gave it a second thought. The colors looked horrendous to me and dated. Thought it was odd. So, when this out-there theory came along, I had to consider it.
In the end though, I'm betting the garish nature of the colors is just for getting attention. "LOOK HERE! Apple logo, lots of creativity in action." That's a good message.
There's a 100% chance of a new hardware product resembling a tablet design, as far as I'm concerned. As others have said, the quotes from yesterday would never go out during the hype atmosphere on the web, unless it was there.
Never mind that these rumor sites end up painting a decent picture for every Apple secret even if it's just because Apple is carefully using them to leak key information. If I were to find out Apple hasn't been carefully leaking info to create hype for years and years, I'd lose a lot of confidence in Apple. lol.
It's tempting to imagine the new tech, and fun, but I hope some of you reign in your expectations a bit. The hardware itself on the initial release is likely to be boring: flat, 10" multi-touch screen, minimal ports. It's likely the software that takes advantage of this form factor will make people drool.
I'd love to be proven wrong on the hardware with a surface that could have parts of it raised programatically. That's my pipe dream that I imagine won't come for a couple years out.
My big focus point during the reveal will be: Did they solve (at least partially) the issue of inputting words?
Thanks for the humor though, everyone. Intentional and otherwise. :)

As I was having a hard time falling asleep lastnight due to being on the Apply Hype Train Express, I thought about the invitation to the event where Apple introduced the Macbook Air. The invite said "Something's in the air" So what if the Tablet will also be used as a content creation device?
I honestly don't think it would be very hard for Apple to position this device as a possible laptop replacement, instead of a whole new line of product.

Blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple, pink: your basic colors. Apple has always used these colors in iPod ads, and this is a media event, after all. What else are they suppose to use? Brown?

Half man.... half bear..... and half pig.
Fox 11 News (local Los Angeles) just ran a story on the 10 o'clock news, and they are calling the rumored tablet: "The iTablet eReader"
Ahahaha three halves.
Ah man, South Park has its moments. :D

I'm glad that a few people have pointed out the similarity to the iPod colors. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the invite. Since all indications point to this event being about the tablet, using colors to represent cell carries seems like wishful thinking more than anything else. I do think that color is going to play into this product somehow. I'm thinking color options on the tablet since Apple's teasers are usually connected to the product in some way (same when they launched the new color palettes for the iPod).
While I'd love an end to AT&T exclusivity, I don't think it's going to happen tomorrow. I think they may talk about a new iPhone OS, but I think that is all we are going to get that is iPhone related.
Just my two cents....

Seems reasonable. Apple has ZERO accountability to AT&T on any product but the iPhone. I feel like the companies that require only a SIM will be available sooner and be more popular.

If the tablet requires a cell phone carrier I won't be buying one. Lets hope Apple doesn't do that.
Same here...I don't feel like having another carrier contract just to use the tablet.

oh noes!!!! you mean i wouldn't be able to see those crappy flash ads or worthless auto-play videos when I visit sites?!
For better or worse those crappy ads pay for the sites you are most likely looking at. Not sure what is worse ... ads built into applications where your privacy info is "phoned home" to remote site or flash embedded into website which try to do the same. The latter you can possibly stop if concerned. The former is much more insidious.
not having flash on the iPhone hasn't been a hindrance and it won't be a hindrance if flash isn't on the iPad(tablet). Flash (and silverlight) is a proprietary application that causes more problems than it solves. Plus with HTML 5 and Javascript web developers can do more things natively than having to rely on 3rd party applications.
For better or worse some sites require flash to look at content. Often these are sites which as concerned with folks downloading their content without permission, but sometimes sites that just want more disco in their presentations. or just games.
Asking all of them to flip over to bleeding edge HTML5/Javascript isn't very pragmatic. It is like asking folks to dump all that IE5/6 specific crap in their websites. For example, Oracle just flipped the major portion of their support site into being Flash based. ( dubious or not it is in motion now.)
As far as crashes go.... yeah it is a problem but that is why browsers have taken to doing more to sandbox the plug-ins so that when they crap out it is just the browser (or minor subwindow of browser) that dies.
The major blocker to Flash on the iPhone was that it needed too much horsepower ( CPU and battery). Whether that is fixed on the tablet/slate/pad is open to question. Certainly could have bigger battery and should have substantially faster CPU. However, those resources may be thrown at other software or issues.
However, flash would be a differentiator between iPhone/Touch. It is on track to show up on Android later this year. Think WebOS too. If Apple steps past better have a good story to go along with it.
also if you've built your site in such a way that your content can't be gotten any other way than through a flash player then your site has already failed.
Many "for pay" sites would disagree. You can block all of the "script kiddie" simple mechanisms for remote cloning a site by going to a flash setup. With generic HTML mechanisms utlilites like wget and curl can clone a website with simple flick of command line construct.

Once again, the Apple secrecy machine has done its job, and apple fan boys have gone so far as to speculate what the colors mean on the logo. My guess is that they were just some graphic artist inspiration, nothing more.
However, tomorrow should be interesting. I find the tablet concept intriguing, but I'm not ready to put some money down on it yet, and if it will require the purchase of a data plan, then the deal will be completely dead for me. Where I live no one has 3g coverage, and I can find enough WiFi hot spots to keep me happy without it. This is the main reason I still have my 1st gen Iphone, because all the phone upgrades in the world mean nothing to me without a network that will support it.
That said, I really hope they are cutting the Iphone loose from AT&T.

Exactly what the hell is it supposed to be now? The hyperbole on this site is just ridiculous.
Actually there are a small fraction of people who do buy Apple products just because they precieve them to be status symbols. It is bling-bling they flash at folks to present the notion that they are hip/wealthy/whatever.
Same folks were up in arms about iPod shuffle and any price decreases.
Same folks Apple pimped out when they released the original iPhone only to issue a feigned mea cupla several later that the price was way too high.
More folks buy Apple stuff being it is a good tool. It does what you want it to do and is made of quality components.
The said thing is that the "cult" and "bling" folks seems to be growing as percentage over time. There are also a number of folks permanently scared from the years when it was fashionable to drown "Apple is dead" over and over again. They are so wrapped up in zealot reactionism has lost touch with reality. And yes are most likely way overrepresented on this site.

It just seems that most people expect the Tablet to be a media consumption product.
I would love Apple to create a product that is intended for fun and creativity. Think of the possiblities. But Apple is a business, and I don't think there is much of a market for a productthat focuses on creativity. Corporations want us to marvel at their creativity, not the other way around.
It would be a cool aspect however. I saw a video of the supposed Microsoft Courier that showed someone editing pictures and creating magazine-like photo albums. It looked really fun.
I would only buy this thing if it worked like an iPod, Kindle, magazine reader, and Wacom Tablet/ Webcam iChat hub. Developers could have a lot of fun creating apps for artists.

Two things about this that make me think that both the subject and many of the replies are just silly.
1. The colour blobs are not the same as those now adorning on the Yerba Buena Centre.
2. Apple is a company with vast sales in countries outside the US and would be stupid to base an international sales campaign on changes to US phone carriers and plans. Most of the world does not suffer the same restrictions as the US and does not care about AT&T et al... whoever they are.
