Just got a 17in powerbook 1.67ghz with a cracked screen, If it is low resolution now can I just swap in a high res. screen or do I have any other options? Thanks Michael

Depends on whether or not the graphics card in that can drive the high-res display.

Unfortunately I don't have the answer to that particular question handy.

The answer is to gonewestcoast's question is yes. Even the older video cards can drive a 1440 by 900 or higher screen resolution. The issue is whether or not you can find a high resolution screen for it that has the correct cable.

And that, I don't know.

Your best bet is to figure out what the highest screen resolution that edition Powerbook had, and try to get one of those off of eBay.

They made 2 different versions of the 17in G4 low and high, just trying to find out if the cable is the same? Thanks

It looks like there are 5 different 17" Models. Just make sure that they all used the same display connector and it won't matter. my concern is that they might not have...
