Is there ANY possible way to create a left-backspace key on the wireless keyboard, like a macro or something????? I am going crazy without it, and of course, the only solution I see is to buy the wired standard keyboard with the numeric keypad, which contains a left-backspace (left-delete) key.

If you hold down the fn key + delete key, that will delete the character(s) to the right of the cursor

Does this work for Windows too?

I'll answer my own question for anyone that was curious. Yes, it does. Tested on my MBP keyboard (didn't think of that earlier, d'oh).

No delete has been a major annoyance for me on a few occasions and I've had to use the on-screen keyboard.
Can't believe I've been using macs 5 years and this is the first time I've heard this, it's so simple, thanks!!:)
