PCIe cards and drivers: how to know?

Hello,

I need to add a few USB and FW 400 ports on my 2009 MP, and I found this card on Monoprice.

It's 25$, when the equivalent card from Sonnet is 90$.

Question is: will I need drivers? The Sonnet card specifically states that it's driver-less.

Is there a way to know if a PCIe card needs drivers or not?
