I've been looking at the M-Audio Sonica Theater for a while, so I could get real surround sound on my PB, and it would be compatible with my current speakers (Logitech Z-540) and potential future speakers (Logitech Z-680 system for $220 on Amazon, drool!), as it has individual outputs for front L/R and rear L/R (and more, but that's all the 540 system uses) and digital coaxial out. I was looking at their site again, and I was slightly confused about what sort of surround formats it can decode itself, if any. I do see this:
supports DTS output and Dolby Digital 5.1/EX (6.1 DVD) decoding
which I take to mean that it can pass DTS along to something else that can decode it, or it will decode DD 5.1/EX itself and send the sound on its way. Am I right, or just confused? ;)
