Apple has expanded their up-to-date program to include purchases of OS 10.1 after July 17th. The upgrade costs only 20 bucks then just like if you buy a computer.
So goto a web site like http://deal-mac.com and look for OS X priced at 50 bucks. Buy it and then upgrade to 10.2 for only 20 more bucks totalling 70 bucks and your shipping.

Not a bad deal.

Clarification

I saw this on http://www.xlr8yourmac.com

Not just any version of 10.1 or 10 will qualify. It appears it must be version 10.1.3 only.
Kind of lame.

This is a quote from the PDF form:
"You must have purchased Mac OS X 10.1.3 (M8545LL/B) on or after July 17, 2002 to participate in this program."

Sorry to get anyones hopes up.

i think the 10.1.3 clarification is because some stores and web vendors may have old stock of previous versions that they are selling for realaly cheap. apple wants to make sure they are not getting cheated, by people who buy a 6 month old copy of osx and then try to get jag for $20.

the thing people are even MORE confused about is the "Check the Savings" promo. apparently it also only applies to new Macs or OS 10.1.3. so...altho i have bought OS X Jaguar I won't be getting the benefit of that promo. That is teh suckage.
