Well...for those who have noticed that I've been MIA for a couple weeks now...Moxiemike & I have something for u... ;)

We'd like to invite you to a sneak peek preview of thefotohaus.com, a newly
minted and minty fresh stock photography agency.

We are in the growing phases but have well over 500 images online, and that
number is expanding daily.

Please bookmark us and check us regularly. Our grand opening is scheduled
for August 21, 2002. You've been selected to help us beta thefotohaus.com
and we're offering you some killer deals.

We offer high quality stock photos to designers, marketers, and the public
at large but offer them at a quality price. We're selling single images for
only $35 a piece. That's for a high quality, 10mb image.

But, since we're new, and we wanna get you hooked, we're offering some
extra-special specials:

5 images for $60 (only $12 per image!)
10 images for $100 (only $10 per image!)
20 images for $160 (only $8 per image!)

So, check out this link :

yep. Sorry everyone for tying up eye for the past week or so. :)

we've both been up late, along with Dug, our third partner in this, scanning, retouching, uploading and tagging.

please check it out. It's only gonna get bigger and better, and we'd like to hear anything y'all have to say—requests, comments, whatever!

thanks!

:)

Looks cool shame its designed in Dream Weaver :) (I LOVE GOLIVE, well not litterly) , I would buy but for two reasons:

a) I spend any money I make about 1/2 an hour after I get it on stupid expensive things

b) I try to only use Photos I take myself.

Thanks,
Ensign Paris

Well, I am please to see Mini-B2TM in the childrens section :)

If you don't mind Eye, can we get a copy of the full image of her so that we can print them? Thanks

eh i'd rather use MacroMedia products than Adobe ones. The Macromedia versions always seem easier to use, faster, and more accessible. I couldn't stand the look of GoLive after I used Dreamweaver. Looks may not be everything, but I would be willing to bet that its easier to create a nice webpage using a nice UI.

sounds like a good way for you to make some dough;)
hypothetical question:
if an aspyering photographer wanted to join in the wealth, could he donate some pics to the site and get a kickback for the royaltys;)???

in all honestly...$35 for royalty free stock photography is damned cheap...usually they range anywhere from $50-$200... ;)

Right on. Photodisc.com sells 10mb images (basically what we're offering) for around $150.00.

The $60 you see is a sale for 5 images. :)

Anyone who wants to get involved should email 3 jpgs to info@thefotohaus.com and we'll take a look and get back to you.

And I'm sure B2TM will get a VERY sweet deal on the photos of mini-B2TM. :)

Thanks for the props, arn. Yea, we do take all the content ourselves. Eye, myself and a good friend of mine are the main contributors at the moment.

We're hoping to grow and add some other folks. It'll be fun. Heck, it's fun already. :)

SWEET! I wish I had a nice camera so that I could contribute to the site. My little digital though just won't cut it. That sucks, because I could get some great pics of stuff around here. Oh well. When I get a real camera then I will let you guys know.

Ambitious. :)

Not quite sure if you are looking for feedback, but...

Generally, if I need photoghraphy, I commission it, but when I have used stock photography, my general concern is speed. I want to find the images fast, and I want to be able to use them fast.

Essentially, I want to know when I come to the site that I am not wasting my time there. I want to know that there are images that might fit my needs before I start, and I am going to want to download a useable copy right away. Obvisiously, you're just starting out, so the former is going to be a problem (or at least until you have built up your catalog), but as for the latter, if you can swing it, I would try to set up some sort of account mechanism (preferably with credit card,) to allow the user to download the images on demand. Even if y'all are good about following up on requests, I may not want to take the risk in a time sensative project (aren't they all?). There are just too many variables in the 'we'll send you an email once your payment has been received.'

Some general comments...

1) I would put a watermark on your preview images.
2) Display the number of photos per category, or search return.
3) break down your pricing. $35 is cheap, but if the photo is for the web, or presentation, I think photodisc is $25 for RF.
4) More information about the source, and use, of the photographs.
5) Credit card payment Paypal may be problematic for designers in an office setting.
6) Remove empty categories, frustrating.
7) Nitpicky, but in the categories page, you may want to account for multiple line categories a little better.

Anyway, that's first blush. Other than that, I wish you the best.

thanks for the info...Moxie agrees along with me (and duke) that we need to refine it a bit still...

it's still in it's begining growth stage...but we're planning on lots of additions to the site as we can do them...

currently our biggest concern is figuring out how to provide instant downloads to customers anytime of day during a purchase...similar to Corbis & Eyewire...anyone got any leads? I've been looking around and my searches have proved useless so far...
