Hello everyone, before I buy my powerbook, I first want to sell my PC because 1) i already have another pc, 2) Gain more Desk Space, and 3) of course get the extra money. Once i get my powerbook i don't think I would ever use a PC that much so i might as well try to get some money for it.

The specs are...
Dell dimension 4550 Desktop
Pentium 4 at 2.53ghz
256mb ram
30gb hard drive
DVD
CD- burner
*15" LCD Display*
Dell keyboard
Dell Mouse
Microsoft wired optical mouse
Harmon Kardon HK-206 Speakers (2.0 system- great sound)
HP PhotoSmart 1115 Photo Printer
Windows XP Home
MS office 2004 (no disk sorry)
The Sims
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Lots of other software

I have almost all the disks and manuals to the system

Could Anyone tell me how much i could get for this system?

Anyone Intrested?

Appropriate Responses Please (no I will not smash it because its a PC)

No more PC!

Thank you so much,
Eric

What speed is the processor / what processor (P4 or celeron?) and how old is the machine? What kind of video card do you have on it? Is it shared ram (with video) or does the video card have it's own memory?

Sound card or on board sound?

A good way to check to see what you'd get is by eBay.... check the completed items for a system with your specs. Dell depreciates more quickly than mac though.

Also, if you're selling software on the machine make sure that you include all manuals, all the serial numbers, the original disks... and do not use that software on another machine. You can't sell an illegal copy of software to someone and use the originals yourself... it's still piracy.

My best advice see what a similar system is going for on eBay. Depending on how old it is that can determine price since Dell replaces their models so often it can devalue quickly.

Sorry, but not many people on a mac forum, want to buy a PC.

You'd get a much better deal on eBay than here, because everyone here is cheap. ;) :D

I took about a minute and searched completed items on eBay for "Dell dimension 4550".

I estimate you will get between $500 and $800, depending on how enticing your auction looks.

$200 for the system, $100 for the LCD.

Hello, and well done for finally seeing the light,

A Powerbook will make a great computer for you, and I hope you enjoy it. As your computer is a Dull, i think you would only get a minimal price for it, especially as they are the biggest selling computer company in the world. On Ebay, the highest priced 4550 Desktop, with a 120 gb HDD, is 700 'buy it now', with a monitor. I wouldn't expect your computer to go for much more than that.

Good luck with the sale of your Dull, and also with the purchase of your PowerBook.

If you can't sell your computer, just get a sledgehammer and break it.

Or dontate it and get a tax deduction :)

You could try parting it out to see if you can get more piece by piece. That monitor might be worth something. But to honest we're going to tell you the same thing we tell everyone in this situation, unfortunetly PCs have no resale value. Good luck though, you might get something on eBay.

I'd think that the system is worth 20% less than what the system costs. I would have said its worth less than that, but the LCD makes it interesting, as do the speakers and printer, although I wouldn't sell the speakers if you want to hook those up to the Powerbook. ;)

I would guess between $600-$700 for the system. Remember, IBM compatibles devalue very quickly, so the longer you delay selling it, the more value will disappear!

So would $550 to $625 be a good price do you think. I'm very excited about my powerbook.
