Any recommendations for external hard drives that are compatible with pro tools? I've heard there are compatibility issues, but I'm not sure why that would be.

I'm looking to run the pro tools files from a hard drive with a faster rpm than my ibook g4 and not use up all the space in my internal hard drive storing the files.

Thanks for any help.

Digidesign will tell you that only their drives are compatible, but it's not true, that's just what they will support if you have problems on the phone. Basically, any 7200 RPM drive with 8MB of cache will do. I happen to like Granite Digital's enclosures for their hotswap function and flexibility, but you can buy an external drive from Lacie or Maxtor that should be just fine.

Glyph harddrives are the best for music. they don't get fragmented as easily and can handle a lot more. Sweetwater.com carries them..
