I currently own a Macbook Pro and Mac Pro, but I'm looking to purchase a used Macbook for travel out of the country. I need a non-unibody, so I can buy an extra battery or two. Do any of the non-unibody Macbooks come with Firewire 800, or do they only come with Firewire 400 and USB 2.0?

You can buy external battery packs that work on the newer MBs and MBPs. It would be worth taking a look at those.

Whats wrong with the MacBook Pro?

Yes, I'm traveling to a remote area, where security is a concern and electricity outages are not uncommon, so I'm looking for something a little more lightweight, smaller, and less expensive than my 15" Macbook Pro. I intend to resell it when I return from the trip.

I prefer to use FW 800 for my external hard drives, but can get by with FW 400 or USB 2.0.

Do you have any recommendations for external battery packs for the newer unibody models?
