Education AppleCare for non-edu MacBooks?

I'm wondering if it's possible to buy educational discounted AppleCare plan and apply them towards MacBooks not bought with the educational discount?

The reason is that we got our MacBooks early last year before going back to school in the fall, and the 1-year warranty is about to expire.

Thanks.
 
Macs bought from edu store are the same as bought from non-edu store so I can't see why not. You may want to confirm this by calling Apple though, just to make sure.
