Okay, so I have been trying to run Windows on my PowerPC G4 non Intel mac running tiger. Yes I know it sounds pathetic and I'm probably not gonna get far. So far I've only used Q, which works well but is reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy slow. I gave it all my RAM, and I've run a real windows computer with said amount of RAM, but it is unbearably slow. Are there any other preferably free programs where I can do this? Don't post a stupid response like "just get an intel mac" or "why would you want to run windows on mac anyway?" I have my reasons... or if anyone knows how to partition it as a last resort.
THX

You could try to find an old version of VirtualPC

I did, but it said that I couldn't upgrade because I didn't have version 7 installed yet. A link would be nice if you could find one.

I meant you could try to find the old version, maybe on eBay or somewhere
VirtualPC for the Mac is no longer available

I used to have an old version hanging around myself, until... well, that's another story

They are out there, but finding one will be the trick

Ebay/Second hand are your only chances of getting Virtual PC. It will always be agonisingly slow due to having to emulate the x86 hardware, if possible run Windows 2000 rather then XP as it uses less resources. Another possible route is to try and track down an old copy of the PowerPC version of Windows NT 4 although this may not run the software you need.

Ok, sorry a lot of people come here expecting us to be their personal search engine, I misread your post and it came off that way.

I don't know of any good stable free apps, I remember trying darwine a long time ago and it being horrifically buggy, but it might have improved given time.

Darwine (http://darwine.sourceforge.net/download.php)

That's all I can think of, hope it helps. FYI, it will be very very slow, regardless what route you take.

i too used Q and windows xp on my eMac g4 and it only did run slow , windows 2000 was a bit faster but not really usable
so once i have found a version of virtualpc with xp i bought it on ebay for 20 quid ,and it makes windows xp really usable , but you need at least 2gb ram so you can dedicate 1gb for virtual pc , ok it works with less but the more ram you give virtualpc the faster it gets

Ebay/Second hand are your only chances of getting Virtual PC.

It is also available on Technet, if you know someone who subscribes (6.1 and 7).

I think, the best thing would be, you buy an used PC, or a cheap new PC. It will be much faster than trying to emulate the x86 on your PPC Mac.

Trust me.

virtual pc xp is fast enough for using it no need for getting it faster, dont forget we talk about windows here
