no wifi symbol though wifi works fine

I have ipod touch first generation, and for some time the wifi symbol that used to show up in the upper left corner of the screen for signal strength has been invisible/disappeared/nowhere to be found. I'm not sure why this is, whenever I'm near wifi the touch can send and receive data just fine, but I can never tell when I get/lose reception since I can't see the symbol. Anyone know why this might be? I'd love to get it back. running newest OS.

o.O that's weird...whenever that happens to my ipod, i usually just go to settings and reconnect it. it'll usually pop up but...in your case, it sounds odd...
