Cool. Has anyone here gotten ahold of this build yet by some amazing feat (a.k.a. leak)? :D I'd like to hear their impression.

AI seems to have some conflicting posts. Some say it's GM, some say it's RC1.

This would not suprise me. Build 6C106 is quite stable, although there still are some bugs.
Either way, in three weeks, we'll have it in our own hands!!!!! :) :) :)

Macminute.com states that the GM build of Jaguar is 3 CD's large!!! Even if one is a developers cd (which makes no sense), two CDs for an OS is tremendous. Three is unheard of. I can't believe that the computer needs more than 1 CD to install the OS.
Can someone verify what these 3 cd's are for?

So is MOSR the only site saying 6C120 is the version to go GM?

the first cd is the os. the second cd is additional apps (itunes, acrobat, additional printer drivers, etc), the third cd is developers tools.

I used to deal with a computer which could support anything from a few users to a few thousand users. The O.S. upgrades would come on 8-10 CD-ROMs, plus the product CD-ROMS and 2 or 3 for the cumulative fixes.
Mac OS X went to 2 CD-ROMS early during Jaguar, plus the dev tools.

Looks like they changed their story too... MOSR now also says 6C115.

So why don't we have our OS + Apps + dev Tools all on one DVD?
Cost I guess... but it can't be far away. My Quicksilver came with ~10 CDs, 5 of which were software restore. Them's a lotta CDs.

10CDs? Which software restore? Are you mixing up the PowerMac with the iMac?
Besides the the OS and the iApps there is nothing to restore on a PowerMac... or maybe the US version is different on that?

I guess they could offer two versions... but that would add even more to the cost of production.
OK... bad idea. But hey, if I could buy Jag on DVD or CD, I'd choose the DVD.

groovebuster I'm not using the US version... it's the Australian version (actually I think it's the international english one... anyway, I can choose Australia and that's all that matters :))
I didn't say there were 10 CDs for software restore... I said it came with ~10 Cds, 5 of which are software restore. Anyway, here are all the CDs that came with my Quicksilver (10 in total):
* Applicaitons
* Restore 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
* OS 9 install
* OS X install
* iPhoto
* Apple Hardware Test
* PLUS: 2 CD-Rs and 2 DVD-Rs
Just for the sake of comparisson, the iMac 800 comes with (12 in total):
* Applicaitons
* Restore 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6
* OS 9 install
* OS X install
* iPhoto
* Apple Hardware Test
* World Book
* PLUS: 2 CD-Rs and 2 DVD-Rs
And for the sake of further comparisson, my old G4 400 came with (4 in total):
* Software Install
* Software Restore
* iMovie 2
* Apple Hardware Test
So in ~2 years, Apple's systems have gone from 4 CDs (sawtooth) to 12 CDs (LCD iMac). If they continue at that rate, in 2 years time we'll be buying Macs with 36 CDs!
Time for DVDs, methinks.

Surely, you are kidding....right? Did you post that link WITHOUT reading the article? I suggest re-reading. You must have missed the huge UPDATE at the bottom of the page, or maybe it was the "maybe up to c120" comment you missed, either way....unbelieveable.
:rolleyes: :confused: :rolleyes:

OK, well explain to me this, if the 5PM update is correct, why is it then people are having difficulty loading Carbon apps with 6c115? I surely doubt Apple would disable all Carbon apps with their final build. Perhaps it is a later build of 6c115. Remember, Apple has been known to in the past have two different builds with the same exact number.

From what i've read elsewhere this is a result of a corrupt and pirated copy of 6C115, anyone confirm or deny this?
