What is the best brand of adaptor to connect my MP3 to the car stereo?

I have a Sandisk MP3 which is great; however, I want to hear my music in the car. I bought a Dynex brand adaptor but it doesn't play well on the car stereo, Is there a trick to finding the correct FM signal?
