We recently updated our machines to Snow leopard and we didn't seem to have any problems, however, last week some folders would not delete from the server because 'they were in use'. This message was using AFP to connect. At the time, we found that it seemed the only files that were causing problems were the DS_Store files and the Server administrator deleted them manually, allowing us Mac users to delete the rest of the folder.
Changing to SMB connection appeared to have sort that problem without the need to manually delete the DS_Store files (perhaps coincidence, I don't know), but now a new problem has surfaced, when closing all finder windows to the server, the Windows administrator still sees the users as if they were in that folder, making it 'locked', thus stopping anybody else from trying to delete them.
Is it better to just use AFP to connect to the Windows server and stop the DS_Store files to be transferred or are these two problems not related? Is there any way to get it sorted?
