some bluray advice for ripping my collection

hi guys, im after some advice on taking my bluray collection onto a hard disk in my macpro!

are there only certain drives that work with the macpro?

my reason is i want to be able to put my bluray collection onto my mac!! i dont want a burner just a reader will do fine......... any known ones that work?

if possible id like to try and get one off the shelf as id like to get cracking on it!

i was just thinking for the extra £30 i may as well get a writer to help futureproof i guess

to be honest with you so far ive been using it with the batch ripper to work my way through my standard dvd collection.

then im going to move onto my blu-ray collection.

but i was going to just use batch ripper again. so im not 100% sure what it does to be honest!!

im currently unsure what to do with the blu-rays as im in 2 minds whether to go apple tv route or mac mini.

but i still have a good 170 dvds to copy yet........ :eek:

but i can bootcamp and use that to do the ripping and converting so no real problem

You can use MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com) to copy Blu-ray discs natively in Mac OS X. Then you can play Blu-ray discs all you want also in Mac OS X.

So have you had any success with this so far? I was thinking about doing it myself, but when I realized I would need at least 4tb of storage just for blu-rays, I decided to drop the idea. Sounds neat though.
