Swelling battery compartment

I happened to touch the back of my MacBook (2007) where the battery is located and it appeared to be swelling out of it's space, just a little bit. It still works on battery power and then recharges. Anyone know what this is? Is the door to the battery compartment supposed to be glued to the battery?

If it's swelling and deforming, it's the battery failing and should not be used any longer. You should go to your local Apple store and try and get a replacement.\
