As stated I have a 160gb iPod classic, I tried to sync it and it says that it is corrupted. So I tried to restore it and it gave me and error. I then restarted my mac and reset the iPod and then reconnected it and then it seems to freeze itunes 9 out of 10 tries and when it does connect it ask for a restore which still gives an error. I then tried using disk utility to wipe the ipod completely which also gave me an error. The iPod seems to still mount on the desktop and allow disk use, and all the content on the iPod is all there and operates as normal. Anybody know a way to wipe this thing clean and start over? Otherwise I'm pretty much stuck with the same music until I break down and buy another one.

have you tried seeing if there is an iTunes preference which might make it work or re-installing iTunes? Sometimes the app does things which we don't realize.
