The Fast User Switching function in OS 10.3.5 disables my HP printer. I'm using the latest HP Director software. If I switch to another user, the printer is disabled from both accounts. The Apple Printer Setup Utility displays this message after stopping my print jobs:

Of course, Apple's Microsoft-like error message doesn't explain why the software can't find the printer, but OS X also refuses to see the printer on the USB port if I try to reconfigure the device. I have to log out of all accounts and avoid Fast User Switching to get OS X to work with the printer again.
