will a 3rd gen shuffle charger work with a 2nd gen shuffle?

I broke my 2nd generation iPod shuffle charger/dock. Stepped on it, error message showed up on screen saying my usb device is drawing to much power.:rolleyes:

Anyway, it will not work anymore. It won't charge, nor connect to itunes.

Does anyone know if the 3rd generation iPod shuffle charger cable will work for my 2nd gen? I don't see much difference, apart from mine having a dock, while the newer one is just a cable with the 3.5mm plug.

Have checked the local futureshop, bestbuy, and even London Drugs since they have ipod accessories, but no luck on finding the dock.
