Can someone walk me thru this procedure I did it once and have forgotten. It is a 120ghd that is external and it is attached to a dual 1.25 PM.

Open up Disk Utility and select the main image of the External Drive, then from the tabs on the right select Partition

on this note, what is the main advantage of partitioning a hard drive, and what type of files should go in each partition? thanks.

Keep in mind, partitioning will remove all data from your hard drive.
And the benefits are....
