Dear Members ,

I'm planning to purchase and customize my first mac computer hopefully at mid march but im worried.

I live abroad ( not in the states ) and we don't have an official apple store here in my country only resellers, now the problem is the resellers sell the iMac 27" Core 2 Duo for about 2,562,62$ so that's about 2.5k $ for only a core 2 duo :S total rip off ! One reason i want to customize and get my i7 + 8GB RAM iMac.

I got my shipping company in the states , that ships to my country promptly and fast ! but if my i7 comes defective im pretty much screwed right ? its gonna take a whole lotta money to ship it back and receiving it 400$+ est. each :S

so give me some advise guys , much appreciated :)

AppleCare is universal so you can get it fixed no matter where you live. Getting a replacement might be hard and expensive though but I'm sure the resellers in your country are authorized to do AppleCare repairs so you can just bring it to them and they have to fix it, even if you didn't buy it from them.

I was told the same thing from apple support , but i'm not sure if they cover the costs till my door step ?

Call them again and ask. Check do your resellers offer AppleCare repairs as well

Everyone is freaking out about iMac's being defective. It is a VERY small amount of them that are actually shipping defective. It's just the fact that people complain when their's is bad, but never come on here to talk about them when they arrive in perfect condition.

I ordered my iMac 27 inch last Tuesday night, it arrived here yesterday afternoon, and it is PERFECT. No buzzing, no yellowing, nothing is wrong with it.

I wanna say that you will get a perfect computer 95% of the time from Apple, its only the 5% that come here and bitch, that scare people away.

But the fact that Apple has put in place procedures to get the LCD panels replaced specifically says something, so the numbers are significant in some way.
