macOS Getting executable xmkmf onto Snow Leopard

SL discontinued xmkmf (x.org description), but I'll need it as I'd like to run a program called SPIM (MIPS simulator, SPIM website).

I figured I could just find the executable online, and add it to my PATH? Or does this require a more complex process? Where can I find xmkmf?

(Moreover, could I just find xmkmf on an older Mac running 10.5 and bring it over to my current Mac?)
