Hi, i have a new macbook - less than 3 weeks old. This morning when i started it up, i heard what sounds like disc drive starting up. it caught me off guard because in all the times i've turned it on i hadn't heard it. Is this normal or should i have it looked at? i havent dropped it or anything. any help is appreciated! thanks!

By the disk drive starting up do you mean the sound when you put a disk in the CD slot? If so then thats nothing to worry about.

there is no disk in the drive, however, it sounds like it spins as if there is something in there.

Didn't Apple issue an update to eliminate this? Check your Software Update and make sure everything is up-to-date.

Also, try a PRAM and SMC reset.
