I've got a blue iPod mini and it's icon on the desktop and in iTunes is also blue. As mine is the only iPod mini I've ever seen in the flesh let alone connected to other macs I don't know whether the icon is a different colour depending on the iPod?!

It's actually quite interesting really. It means they don't just simply put any old innards in any old case. At what point does the iPod know what colour it is - during the making of the mini logic board - when they print the serial numbers on the back - or when they load the software?

that is pretty cool though. i have had every ipod since the first one and the icon always symbolized which model you had. i have held all the mini's, but don't own one personally so i haven't seen the color on the desktop, but now that i think of it, why wouldn't it show up which color it is.hob said:

Yeah, I've noticed there are a lot of jerks in this forum. It kinda ruins things for the rest of us.

But yes, from a purely user-centric viewpoint the icon would naturally be the same colour.
