Hi all
I currently have factory apple 2gb(2x1gb) installed.
Im short on cash but I can buy another 2gb(2x1gb) similar apple ram for cheap
Also I can buy 4gb (2x2gb) ram from tigerdirect

this is what my ram slots look like.
Am I able to fit all the ram without any issues if so could some guide me.This is my first mac pro so dont want to damage anything.

thanks

RAM in quad sets is best for the 2008 MP, so I'd actually suggest the two 1 GB chips, to give you a set of four. That's what I did in my 2.8 Ghz 8-core.

thanks!

So i can skip the 2x2gb from tigerdirect, unless I get 2 of them to make 12gb

Yes, the best solution for a tight budget is to match the 1GB sticks with two more to make a quad, then create a second set of four with 1GB, 2GB etc sticks as budget allows.
