Apple Expo...Okay, WHAT is this?

What is this sticking out of the iPod? An IR antenna or what? I know what's above it, On Tour Portable Music Box (http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.asp?ProdId=ONTOUR&SerId=HMM&sCatId=), but it seems to have no connectivity with it, that is, wirelessly. So perhaps that is just a security device or what?

That's not really a cord, though...
The dock connector cable goes down into the table, but not the top device.

It looks like a wire to keep the iPods from being "lifted," i.e. stolen. I highly doubt it is an antenna of any type.

You see the speakers above the ipod? I have used those before and the cord that they use looks exactly like what is sticking out of the ipod. Sorry, I wish I had better news for you guys.

If you look carefully at the iPod you'll see that the iPod is firmly tied down to the table via a clear band in the middle going between the screen and scroll wheel. If you'll notice also, there's a little black right next to the dock connector thing, it looks like there is a small hole in the table that runs the dock wire thing to speakers or power or something.
