I have 6C115 and it seems to be about the same as 6C106. If anyone has any questions I will try to answer them.

how, why, and where are my three questions

What? im not telling anyone where or how to get this... I will buy the retail version when it comes out because I in no way condone piracy. However its a beta so I'm checking it out.

I downloaded Jag 6C115 yesterday, works great on my Ti800, but will not boot my B+W 300 upgraded to 500 G4 with XLR8 Zif. I get he new boot screen with the grey apple instead of the happy mac, but then I get a stop sign and it won't boot any further.
A lot of people will be unhappy unless apple iron this bug out before GM!!

It still will not boot on my second hard drive.. I get the new grey screen with the Apple Logo but alas that is all I get!It really sucks because I guess now I will have to reformat my drive.... Does anyone have any suggestions to fix the problem?....

my main question was WHY...meaning why would you pirate the OS? i highly oppose people using pirated apple software...if it's microsoft i'm ok with it.
besides...i'm eagerly waiting for my 10.2 to come by fed ex :D

I can't imagine who would actually WANT to pirate the new OS (or keep a beta version) and not purchase the final version, except for the price of the final version and because some of us still suffer from dial-up.
As for your problems with grey screens and failure to boot up, at least realize that you are installing a BETA. So Apple cannot be held responsable for any errors that ƒ up your computer.
And I'm pretty sure that the very final version of Jaguar will fix these problems.

Why is this pirating software when I am allowed to download it from apple? If you have an ADC account, you are a beta tester rather than a software pirate! This is not some dodgy version of Jaguar I downloaded from Hotline... and I do not distribute my downloads to anyone else.
I think the reason it won't install on my B+W is that the XLR8 zif modifies the firmware to allow the G4 to boot. I have had no problems installing on my Ti550, Ti800 or my PBG3 300 lombard. Either that or my CD-Rom is screwed...
Anyway Jaguar is too close to GM now for a bug like that to still exist, so if it is a bug, i don't think it will be fixed in time, nevertheless I have reported the bug to Apple.

Seems to be a lot of conflicting rumors just now.
Anyone know for sure?

There's nothing wrong with being an ADC Beta tester so fu<k off.
I was wondering, how's the support for external CD-RW drives. X.1.5 supports CD Burning through the finder on my TDK veloCD but iTunes 3 still won't burn me an Audio CD, which is why i just use Toast Titanium (which came with it, w00t!).
Also, how is system responsiveness in menus/window resizing, any better?

6C115 is supposed to be Release Candidate 1...meaning not quite GM, but pretty darn close.

I haven't got 6C115, but on 6C98 my 500MHz iBook feels much faster. The only issue would be browser resizing which, although faster then in 10.1.5, is still slow as molasses. Still, my iBook has gained much speed from nothing more than a software upgrade.

Oh good grief. Apple reads these forums. Apparently a lot closer than you Carracho punks do. Do you want Apple to add some stupid and annoying anti-piracy mechanism to OS X? They're saying they're going to have to. If you really feel like you must download pirated software (and really, must you?), for Pete's sake, don't openly blab about it in the forums!
I mean, really, would you walk into a K-Mart and talk loudly with your friends about things you had shoplifted?

Wow, does Apple really pay someone to sit around and go through all these posts on MacRumors (and Spymac, MacOSRumors, AppleInsider, AstheAppleTurns, Thinksecret, RailheadDesign, MacNN, MacOSXRumors, etc.)???
I sure wouldn't mind getting that job. If I had a nickel for every dumb post I've read on this forum...

Apple hasn't implemented support yet on iTunes for those drives, I guess. That's why I recommend getting a LaCie. :p

Hey! steady on there... I don't work for Apple, I'm just a Beta Tester. I just thought I'd tell you all how cool Jaguar is, and how close to GM it must be now.
Be warned about installing 10.2 on machines with patched firmware, I reckon the new BootX will only recognise clean roms.
Then again it could be my CD-ROM, I'll stick a new one in tomorrow and test it. I'll report back then. (funny thing is it mounts the jag disk in 10.1.5 and reads it ok just wont boot)

No, those windows aren't in the frontmost application, so the titlebars go transparent...just like 10.1.

I wonder if the final build of 10.2 changed the spinning [whatever] waiting cursor to something more "aqua". What does the cursor looks like in 6C115?

I'm sure many people "pirating" the pre-releases will go out and buy the final...who wants to reformat every time they get a new pirated upgrade? sounds like a waste of time to me...

I'd have to say that there was a much nicer blue spinning ball around for a while (take a look at the one used in the speedownload application icon).
The current one in 10.2 though beats the hell out of the pixelated rainbow one in 10.1.

It's not up to Apple to support unsupported hardware. Talk to your hardware vendor.

You are under a particular obligation to Apple to follow your NDA. NDA = Non-disclosure agreement. Of course there are people on these forums who haven't read their NDA in which case I'm surprised they are still official developers. And those who have downloaded it from Carracho and want to offer Apple direct feedback, join their developer team. It is only $500 a year! It is interesting to hear though what both beta testers and Carracho downloaders have to say, so we can see if the bug was fixed in the final release. Yet whatever you say, we should all take with a grain of salt as Apple may patch in a final fix. 6c115 is not GM, I read here in the forum. It is GM candidate. Enough said. I remember a time when 4k78 was GM and still some versions of it came with the DVD player and others did not. So even within the same build there can be variations. Let's all wait till the actual CDs hit the streets for the general public before we proclaim that Apple missed a bug or two in the final release. Because that build on Carracho is most definitely not the final release.

$500 Might seem steep for the ADC gig, bt you do get a lot out of it. Plus, If you are dong any type of development, or even just use your Mac to make money, you can write it off your taxes. (I would think, Macrain, yell at me if I'm wrong.);)

Duh. Of course they do. How else do they know who to send all those Cease and Desist letters to? They might not read each post and thread thoroughly, but they certainly read enough to do their jobs, and somebody starting a thread titled, say, "I have downloaded Mac OS X for free! Ask me how!" will doubtless catch their attention AND give them the impression (maybe true, maybe false) that piracy of Mac OS X is a rampant problem that they must address.
I'm not going to tell you not to download pirated software, even though that's a damn fine option to pursue, because you won't listen anyway. But common sense and self-interest ought to tell you that stealing something and then going into a public forum to say, "I stole this thing! Look at me!" is going to have some undesirable consequences at some point.

I am almost 100% sure that Apple does not mind of the Developer seeds get downloaded by people other than developers. While im sure they dont openly encourage it, they get alot more benefit if more people have it in order to get a broader range of users using it day to day. It allows for better findings.
I have been able to use 6C115 for a few days, and while it has a few bugs(none of which are that big a deal) it has further solidified my desire to purchase the GM when it becomes availible.:D

I bet the use a bot and it periodically check the sites for key words in a database file they have. If hit's come up they probably peek and see how relevant it is. The bot probably ignores robot.txt files too. That's what I'd do.

Is your second hard drive Oxford 911 chipset? I am not only booting 6c106 off a second hard drive, but its second partition too!
I guess YMMV. I already put my order in for Jaguar on the day it was announced.

Shutup! I mean come on. This guy is nice enough to answer some questions about the upcoming Jaguar. It turns into a piracy is bad debate. Do you really care if someone is using a pirated BETA version? “It’s ok to pirate from Microsoft but not Apple”, at least Microsoft only screws you with software, Apple does it both ways. So back to the topic at hand, and not bashing a member for trying to help.
I have a Powermac dual 1ghz, my biggest complaint is that damn beach ball of death, In OSX 10.2 is it still there? If it is, does it come up often?

I'm just proving the point that same build different features is the case here. I think it would behoove us all, if we are beta testing and we like what we see to any degree to go out and buy the final. Only that way can we really complain about a feature or lack of features in Jaguar. You do want there to be a 10.2.1, don't you? Oh and now Jaguar is available for as little as 98.95 to the general public:

Build 6C115 was testesd as the first Golden Master Candidate . After receiving feedback from developers, it was declared the Final Golden Master! It is being boxed as we speak. It will be leaving Apple's factories on its way to stores by this time next week! Please accept it people! There are never two builds with the same number-that is the purpose of the build number-to distinguish it. 4k78 was the GM build for Mac OS X 10.0. This was the only version that I can recall Apple releasing a press release for.
Please let this notion go! When you buy your copy at your local store on the 24th...You will have build 6c115. No "debugging code removed", nothing. Since it was a GM candidate. It was prepared as such-ready to ship.
Thank you all-have a pleaset day

There is no way 6C115(the one seeded at least) is GM...no way, i cant even mount disk images in 6C115, so i doubt that its GM. Most likey they made it to 6C120 or near that maybe 6C118. It was announced then a few days later confirmed, im sure apple did some tweaking, so even if it is 6C115 in the build, that build is somewhat tweaked.

Question is, with a 6c115 build if it has the bugs like not being able to mount disks, where was it downloaded from. Did you inform the administrator of who you downloaded it from to pull it off since it isn't the true GM? Or are you talking about a build from a legitimate ADC obtained 6c115? I'm really curious here. I'd like to see a report of where 6c115 was obtained from if it has no problems vs. where it was obtained from if it has serious issues. And if it has serious issues, did you mention to the distributer it has them? Because if you didn't more people are going to get the same issues with the misconception it is Gold Master, and will be so frustrated as to not get the final release from Apple. Don't take downloaded builds as gospel. Purchase the final release.

Maybe it's just the paranoia in me, but I wouldn't just accept an operating system from a source other than the developer. Considering that the Darwin base is freely available, any number of changes could be made and people would think that they had a legitimate version due to their enthusiasm.
People who have downloaded 6C115 or any of the others may have tainted versions which are causing problems which don't exist in the real version directly available from Apple.
This is a disservice to Apple users, developers, and the company itself.
