iOS Interface Builder Library problem

I'm trying to create my Hello World app and when I scroll through the library I get to Date Picker in the list and the beach ball comes up.

Interface Builder is no longer responding.

I'm running Xcode 3.1.2 on Snow Leopard. Any help for a newbie?

Do I need to remove the Xcode software and download it again?
