A friend of mine just bought a custom built notebook and wants to compare it to my powerbook. Is there any program that we can both run to compare our laptops? I always use Xbench to compare macs, but am stumped on comparing to a windoze machine.

Thanks

There really is no extremely accurate way to compare Mac vs. PC. It all depends on the program used. Some programs will be much faster on a Mac rather PC, and vice versa.

What I want to see benchmark wise is a Mac with the exact same specs as a Dell (hard drive speed, capacity, and connection the same, same amount of RAM all running the same speed, same video card (sort of), etc.).

Have them both running Gentoo Linux and use the same benchmark programs.

That would be a real test.

www.barefeats.com attempts to compare the two, but there is no completely accurate industry standard for this

the best comparison is which operating system you prefer to use, windows xp home/pro or mac os x

both laptops will be "fast"
